Breakthrough Begins in the Bible

Breakthrough begins in the Bible.

You’ve tried everything you know to try.

You’ve had a few moments of peace, some growth, and maybe a bit of change, but it never lasts, does it?

Between today and heaven, God gave us His Word.

Our shelves hold many Bibles, and yet we don’t read the Word like we should.

Our lives bubble over with needs, but we reach for every other answer instead of the One True Answer.

Why don’t we read the Bible?

It’s a sobering question.

When our eyes sweep across the holy pages and scripture opens our hearts, we see our true selves. God’s Holy Word breaks through who we try to be, who we wish we were, the us we hide from everyone. The Light of God’s Word shines on our dark, hidden places.

God’s Word illuminates places we cover.

Reading scripture shows our fiery rages of anger and grossly selfish motives. The ticking clocks and demanding wants and binding schedules fall silent. God’s Word zooms into impatient places, and right in the face of our preferences.

Maybe, we simply don’t want His Word to break apart the structures we built around our lives.

We want the good stuff though.

Give me all the love and peace and joy and power and wisdom and healing and grace and mercy You got Jesus!

But, breakthrough?

Are we brave enough to pray for breakthrough?

Break through me, Jesus.

God may have things He wants to break through IN me, before he breaks through things AROUND me.

Break through the walls around us as we open the covers of Your Word.

Break through our pride and transform it into surrender.
Bend our will as we bend our knees.

Break through our stiff-necked posture so our heads bow, trembling before a Holy God who chose to break the earthly body of His only Son so sin was broken off our record.

The breakthrough we’re searching for may not look like we imagined. We may not find the checkered flag or finish line. Between the pain and the promise, we journey here in the earthly middle.

We find breakthrough as we walk with Jesus through the #unseeninbetween.

All the unseen moments, private tears, ripped hearts, prayers waiting for answers, and sacrifices pave a path filled with eternal investments.

“So we fix our eyes NOT on what is SEEN but on what is UNSEEN. For what is SEEN is temporary, but what is UNSEEN is eternal.” 2 Corinthians 4:18

God’s Word equips you for traveling this #unseeninbetween when life breaks you apart.

Breakthrough begins when you break open the Word.

Will you join me this day and open your Bible?

Father,

I ask You light a fire in the hearts of Your children to read and study and meditate on Your Word. Only Your Word matters. Our opinions, our thoughts, our vast intellects are vapors of mist compared to the divine words You gave us in Your Holy Word.

Let us be a people of the Gospel.

In Jesus’ Name,

Amen

Thanks for your sweet words. I love this message. Great reminder to get into the Word of God. Many great books out there, but God want us to read His Word.

    • Absolutely! I’m a huge reader and book lover, but without filling myself with God’s Word most of all, I’m missing the most important words of all. Thanks for reading and commenting.

    Renee,

    This is so good!

How true it is that our natural desires are for the blessings, peace, joy, love, power and wisdom of God, but it’s definitely harder to ask Him to break through the muddy, tangled areas in our lives. Thank you for reminding us that before God performs breaks through AROUND us, there may be something He wants to break through IN us. I love that!!

    Sweetest blessings to you, sister!
